What steps do we take to repair your iPhone 7 charging port?
After diagnosis is complete and we determine you do need a new charging port, we give you the repair quote. Once the price is approved, we begin the charging port repair. This process is an hour or less.
First we remove the case from your phone (if it has one), then we remove the two pentalobe screws from the bottom of the frame. We then heat the screen a little and begin to carefully pry the screen up from the devices frame, starting at the lower edge of the screen, being careful not to damage the home button during the process.
We then remove the four phillips screws from the bracket covering the battery and display connectors, unplugging the iPhone battery flex cable first then the display flex cable. We then remove the two phillips screws from the bracket covering the proximity sensor, microphone, and front camera assembly flex cable. We can now remove the screen completely from the frame.
Next we remove the phillips screws from the barometric vent and remove it from the rear case. We unplug the taptic engine and remove the 3 screws securing the engine to the rear case before removing the engine from the frame. We then remove the single phillips screw from the diversity antenna and the three screws from the loud speaker assembly.
We can now unplug our diversity and wi fi antenna cables from the logic board and remove the loud speaker assembly, being very careful to not damage the wi fi antenna during the process. We can now eject the sim card tray to remove the sim card from the phone. We must unplug everything plugged into the logic board at this time and remove all standoff screws from the logic board. Once this is done, we can gently lift the logic board from the back frame and set it on an ESD safe mat.
We now unscrew all 5 screws from the charging port and use small amounts of heat to loosen the adhesive holding the charging port assembly in place. Once this is all done, we do these steps in reverse order to put it back together with the new charging port.
